Our History

San Antonio Alternative Housing Corporation (SAAHC) is a nonprofit organization established in November 1993 to provide housing and support services for low and moderate-income communities in Texas, with special emphasis in Bexar County and Travis County, Texas. Programs operated by SAAHC include: scattered-site rental, multi-family developments, and resident support services.

SAAHC is governed by a four-member Board of Directors, with two of the members residing in a low-income census tract served by SAAHC. SAAHC is organized as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO). SAAHC has helped provide over 400 families with home ownership through its down payment assistance program. SAAHC has developed over 5,000 affordable rental units in the past 20 years.
